Authorised bio-preparations: Tunisia
Tunisia
Tunisia: organic production is governed by an official text (Loi 99-30 et l'arrêté du 28 février 2001 (cahier des charges de la production végétale biologique, annexes 1 et 2)). Its list of permitted inputs includes, among others: compost, manure (not from factory farming), vermicompost, potassium soap, sulphur, lime sulphur, copper (Bordeaux mixture), with limits, milk and dairy products, fish meal and fish products, plant oils, wood ash, rock dust. Several substances are only allowed with the certification body's approval or under conditions (marked 'restricted'). These rules apply to anyone selling certified organic products. A farmer who makes and uses these recipes on their own farm, without claiming certification, is not bound by them, but must comply with the general rules on fertilisers and pesticides.
