Authorised bio-preparations: India
India
India: organic production is governed by an official text (National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP, APEDA), 8th edition 2024). Its list of permitted inputs includes, among others: compost, manure (not from factory farming), vermicompost, plant preparations and extracts, neem, potassium soap, sulphur, lime sulphur, copper (Bordeaux mixture), with limits, bicarbonate, vinegar, fish meal and fish products, propolis, wood ash, rock dust. The standard expressly allows preparations made on the farm from local plants, animals and microorganisms. These rules apply to anyone selling certified organic products. A farmer who makes and uses these recipes on their own farm, without claiming certification, is not bound by them, but must comply with the general rules on fertilisers and pesticides.
