Firewood ⛔ Not authorised EU
Dry wood used as fuel to heat or boil certain preparations.
Characteristics
- Dry wood (under 20% moisture) burns better and makes less smoke.
- The embers and ash left over can be kept for other recipes.
- Hardwoods (holm oak, oak, beech) give more heat per volume.
Role in the preparation: It provides heat while the preparation is being cooked.
Caution: Only use natural wood, with no paint or varnish, and no pallet or construction timber; watch the fire and follow local burning rules.
