Soap made from caustic potash and vegetable oil, traditionally used in organic farming as a contact foliar spray that leaves no persistent residues on the plant.

Application

Application description: Apply as a foliar spray, ensuring thorough coverage of the undersides of the leaves, and avoiding the hottest part of the day or direct sunlight (risk of phytotoxicity). Repeat every 5–7 days as needed for the crop.

Tips

Apply in the late afternoon or early morning, avoiding the hottest part of the day and direct sunlight. This is a contact product: use it only when necessary, making sure to thoroughly cover the undersides of the leaves. Repeat every 3 or 4 days if necessary. The diluted solution will keep for up to one month when tightly sealed. Keep the concentrated soap and caustic potash out of the reach of children and animals.

Preparation process

1) Put on gloves and safety goggles; caustic potash is corrosive. 2) Slowly pour the caustic potash into the distilled water (never the other way around), stirring until it is completely dissolved. 3) Gradually add the vegetable oil, stirring constantly. 4) Continue mixing until you achieve a smooth, homogeneous, puree-like texture. 5) Let the mixture sit for 24 to 48 hours in a cool place, out of the reach of children and pets. 6) To use: Dilute 25 g of this prepared soap per liter of water. Set aside 20% of the total water, heat it without bringing it to a boil, dissolve the soap in it, and then mix it with the rest of the water in the spray bottle.
