Ground seaweed fermented for a month with molasses, the diluted liquid of which is sprayed on the leaves. Tested on peanut in Sulu (Philippines) by Mindanao State University with the red seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii.
Application description: Foliar spray of the liquid diluted in water, once or twice a week until the end of flowering.
Dose: 5% (50 ml per litre of water); the trial tested 5 to 20%, and 5% gave the best results.
The analysed extract contained 0.30% N, 0.15% P₂O₅ and 2.46% K₂O: it is mainly a source of potassium. Only harvest seaweed where permitted.
1. Rinse the seaweed to remove sand and excess salt, then grind it.
2. Mix it with the molasses (1 kg to 1 L) in a container that closes.
3. Leave to ferment for about a month in the shade.
4. Strain through a fine cloth and keep the liquid.
About 1 month.
Thick dark-brown liquid with a sweet, fermented smell.
