Bio-preparations authorised in the European Union
European Union
In the European Union, a farm-made preparation may be used without authorization if it is based on an approved basic substance (Article 23 of Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009), for the uses and rates described in its review report, or when it is a soil amendment or fertilizer manufactured for the farm’s own use (Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 applies only to products placed on the market). In organic farming, inputs must also be listed in the annexes to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1165. Some countries add their own lists, such as France for natural substances used as biostimulants.
